Dr. Kriya Gishen, MD is an extensively trained plastic and craniofacial surgeon who specializes in Facial Feminization Surgery. Based in Beverly Hills, Dr. Kriya has the knowledge and experience needed to perform reconstructive facial surgery with the highest level of skill. Dr. Kriya attended Brown University and the University of Miami for her bachelor's and medical degrees. She subsequently completed a plastic surgery residency at the University of Miami, and a craniofacial fellowship at UCLA, considered one of the top craniofacial programs in the world. In Miami and Los Angeles, Dr. Kriya was trained in gender surgery and participated in countless gender-affirming facial, breast and body procedures. Additionally, Dr. Kriya has formal art training. Her background as a sculptor and sharp eye for shape and contour are perfectly paired with her surgical skills.
Facial Feminization Procedures
Facial Feminization Surgery is a group of procedures that refine and soften facial features to augment their feminine appearance. Dr. Kriya has highly specialized training in the surgical manipulation of both bone and soft tissues of the face and is skilled with the following FFS procedures:
Hairline Lowering Surgery
For those who have a high hairline or temporal
recession, Hairline Lowering Surgery can be an
important treatment. It is often performed at
the same time as other procedures. Surgeon
experience is critical for reducing the
appearance of the hairline scar.
Forehead Reduction and Contouring
Reducing a prominent forehead is one of the
most effective surgeries for feminizing the
face. Craniofacial training and experience
with bone surgery are required credentials in
a surgeon performing this procedure.
Brow Lift
The Brow Lift procedure feminizes the face by
elevating the eyebrows. It can be done as a
standalone procedure or combined with Forehead
Reduction.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty can have a dramatic effect in
feminizing the face. The procedure can involve
removing a masculine-looking bump from the
bridge of the nose, elevating the tip of the
nose, and creating a more narrow nose overall.
Alar base reduction (nostril reduction) can
also be performed. Rhinoplasty is an intricate
procedure that requires experience with the
fine manipulation of bones, cartilage, and
structures of the nose.
Cheek Enhancement
This procedure creates more fullness in the
middle of the face, which enhances its
feminine appearance. Dr. Kriya performs cheek
enhancement with fat grafting. Using
liposuction, Dr. Kriya takes fat from one area
of the body and transfers it to the cheeks.
Lip Augmentation
Dr. Kriya also offers Lip Augmentation with
fat grafting. The fat is often taken from the
abdomen or thighs, purified and then injected
into the lips through several tiny puncture
sites.
Chin Contouring
Women tend to have narrower, shorter chins
than men. Medically referred to as
Genioplasty, chin surgery changes the shape
and size of the chin to make it appear more
feminine. It is another procedure that
requires the surgeon to have a high level of
training and experience with cranial bone surgery.
Jaw Contouring
Often performed together with Chin Contouring,
Jaw Contouring is done to reduce the size of
the jaw and make it look less square and more
feminine.

Dr. Kriya accepts cash, credit cards, check

Medicaid and Medicare. Dr. Kriya has
successfully billed Blue Cross Blue Shield,
Cigna, Aetna and United Health Care, and is
working on establishing coverage through L.A.
Care Health Plan and Medi-Cal.
Surgery Requirements
- Dr. Kriya is a Member of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health and follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. A letter of recommendation from a qualified mental health provider is required.
- No smoking for four weeks prior to and after surgery.
- BMI of less than 33
