Dr. Toby Meltzer is a board-certified surgeon who is widely recognized as one of the leading experts in the field of Gender Affirmation Surgery. Dr. Meltzer has been performing MTF Surgery since 1993 and has completed over 4000 gender affirming surgeries. He performs about 200 gender reassignment surgery cases per year in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Dr. Meltzer started performing Vaginoplasty at Oregon Health Sciences University in 1993. Pushing himself to improve the procedure, he became the first surgeon in the U.S. to create a clitoris with sensation by rearranging nerves in the tip of the penis, offering patients real sexual function.

In 2003, Dr. Meltzer became the first surgeon in Arizona to specialize in Gender Reassignment Surgery when he moved his private practice to Scottsdale. Dr. Meltzer operates at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Campus at the Greenbaum Surgery Center and also has privileges at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Campus.

Exact pricing for your surgery can only be determined following a consultation. Dr. Meltzer is available for in-person consultations in either Scottsdale or Portland for a fee of $100. To book a consult, contact Dr. Meltzer's office here.

Dr. Meltzer follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. This means that you will need to provide two referrals from qualified mental health professionals for genital procedures; one referral for other procedures, unless otherwise specified by insurance. You will also need a letter from your hormone specialist stating you have been on 12 months of continuous hormones for genital procedures, unless this is clinically contraindicated. Dr. Meltzer will operate on minors with parental consent.

Dr. Meltzer accepts cash, credit cards and medical financing. He also accepts insurance. The Meltzer Clinic contracts with Kaiser and have also worked successfully with BCBS, UHC, Aetna, Cigna and Harvard Pilgrim.
